"The Perfect Little Stranger"

Updated: Mar 13, 2019

I was listening to a radio commercial one night that said “In our lifetime, we will interact with million(s) of people.” Then I thought, in those millions of interactions, how many will we have a positive impact on? How many of them will we leave the person with a greater hope in humanity, with a simple human interaction? How many will we share a smile with? How many will we make laugh? and lastly, how many will we share our faith with?

Honestly, we could never do enough of either of those, but we should try! Then I thought about all the interactions that struck a chord towards the singing bells of humanity, and it got me thinking about this special interaction I had with this perfect little stranger.

I remember finishing a workout and deciding to head to Chick-Fil-A (Not the best place to go after a workout 🤦🏾‍♂) When I got there, of course, there was a million people !! All the interactions a person could have in a lifetime annoyingly stood in between me & my spicy chicken deluxe !! 😩 I finally ordered, got my special sauce, ketchup, ice cold lemonade drink and found a table near the entrance. I did my pre-meal prayer and went straight to work on my perfectly fried, bronzed patty of deliciousness (Chick-Fil-A better pay me for this 😂) shortly after, I see this little girl and her grandma trucking in my direction. This little girl was looking dead at me, with eyes full of joy. I thought “what the hell is this lil girl looking at? She ain’t getting a bite of my deliciousness," but I was quickly overpowered by her cuteness, radiance, and joyful presence. It was like the closer she got to me the more I could feel her pure joy and excitement. This little girl smiled from ear to ear while walking by me with her struggling grandmother. I thought “Wow” this must be what it feels like to have daughter! That little girl looked at me like I was a super hero!- and I felt like one. “Hi sweetheart!” I said to her as they walked past me. Then, the moment was gone. I went back to eating my bronzed patty of deliciousness with a little more joy then I had before interacting with this perfect little stranger.

"Hi Mr.!!"

Then I noticed the little girl and her grandmother looking in my direction and talking among each other. The grandmother grabs the little girls hand and walks her back in my direction. ”Excuse me sir?! The grandmother says. This is my granddaughter and she insisted that I bring her over here so that she can give you a hug!“ I thought "wow! This little girl is filling my heart up with joy” and said to the grandmother “That's sweet of her, of course!” “Aw thank you! “ the grandmother replies. The grandmother then goes on to say, “She insisted that she come hug MR. T!” 😂 I thought “Mr WHO?!” and how does this 8 year old girl know about Mr T?! My pride was a little wounded but when I looked down at this little bundle of joy, eyes as big as the sky, smiling from ear to ear. I was again quickly overpowered by her cuteness. I pondered on what to do... and then leaned down towards the little girl and said “I pity the fool!!!” That little girl gave me the biggest hug ever ! and gave me more joy then any bronzed patty ever could've done ! If a little girl thinks you are Mr. T, then God don-nit you be Mr T!!

It's not always that we get to encounter someone so little with so much to give. On this day, that little perfect stranger had so much joy to give!!! & taught me something: In your million(s) of interactions, if you can’t give anything else, always give joy!!!

A smile can definitely warm the heart! I pray she keeps on smiling - whether she meets Mr. T or not. Lol

Cute story 😁
